Accessibility Statement
Last updated: April 18, 2026
MythScribe is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to make our tools usable by as many people as possible.
Conformance Status
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
While we strive to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website, particularly given the visual and interactive nature of dungeon map generation and tabletop RPG content creation.
Measures We Have Taken
- Keyboard navigation — All interactive controls (buttons, form fields, menus, toggles, popovers) are navigable via keyboard using Tab, Enter, and arrow keys. Our UI components are built on Radix UI primitives which provide native keyboard support and ARIA attributes.
- Skip navigation — A “Skip to main content” link is available at the top of every page for keyboard and screen reader users to bypass the navigation bar.
- Screen reader support — Interactive elements include descriptive labels (aria-label, aria-describedby). Decorative elements are hidden from assistive technology (aria-hidden). Screen-reader-only text is provided where visual context alone would be insufficient.
- Color contrast — Text and interactive elements are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text). We regularly audit contrast across light and dark themes.
- Reduced motion — Animations and transitions respect the
prefers-reduced-motionoperating system setting. Users who have enabled motion reduction will see simplified or disabled animations throughout the application. - Semantic HTML — Pages use proper heading hierarchy (h1 through h6), landmark regions, and semantic elements to support assistive technology navigation.
- Focus indicators — Visible focus rings are provided on all interactive elements for keyboard users.
- Dark mode — Full dark mode support is available via the theme toggle, which respects the user’s system preference by default.
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some areas of the application may have accessibility limitations:
- Dungeon map canvas — The interactive SVG-based dungeon map is a visual tool that relies on mouse/touch interaction for panning, zooming, and room selection. While zoom controls have accessible labels, the map content itself is not fully navigable via screen reader. We provide text-based room detail panels as an alternative.
- AI-generated content — Content generated by AI (character backstories, campaign ideas, encounter descriptions) may not always produce optimal heading structure or reading order, as it is dynamically created.
- Third-party components — Some embedded third-party services (Google reCAPTCHA, Stripe checkout) have their own accessibility characteristics that we do not control.
